Agreement

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using this website, subscribing to our newsletter, registering for an event, submitting a form, or making a donation, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

What is permitted

2. Use of the site

You agree to use this site only for lawful purposes. You will not:

  • Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the site.
  • Impersonate SAEVA, its board, staff, volunteers, or any other person or entity.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, disrupt the site, or circumvent security features.
  • Upload or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or infringes the rights of others.
  • Use the site or SAEVA communications to send unsolicited commercial or political messages.
Contributions

3. Donations and the founding supporter list

SAEVA is completing its legal formation and is not currently accepting donations. The founding supporter list on this site records an expression of interest only: no payment is collected, no card details are requested, and joining the list creates no obligation to give. SAEVA is not presently a tax-exempt organization, and nothing on this site should be relied on as a statement that a contribution is tax-deductible.

Once contributions open, all donations to SAEVA will be voluntary, and the tax treatment of a contribution will be stated at the point of donation based on the status of the receiving entity at that time.

Donations are generally non-refundable. If you believe a contribution was made in error — for example, a duplicate transaction or an incorrect amount — please contact us within 30 days at legal@saeva.org and we will review your request in good faith.

Email

4. Newsletter and communications

By subscribing to the SAEVA newsletter or opting in through a form on this site, you consent to receive email updates from SAEVA. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us. Transactional messages related to donations, event registrations, or account actions may continue after you unsubscribe.

Ownership

5. Intellectual property

All text, graphics, logos, video, program materials, and other content on this site, other than user-contributed content and third-party materials used with permission, are the property of SAEVA or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

By submitting content to SAEVA — including comments, stories, testimonials, images, or event materials — you grant SAEVA a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, display, and distribute that content in connection with SAEVA’s programs and communications. You represent that you have the right to grant this license.

External sites

6. Third-party links

This site may link to third-party websites, publications, and resources. SAEVA does not control, endorse, or take responsibility for the content, practices, or policies of those third parties. Accessing external sites is at your own risk.

No warranties

7. Disclaimers

The site and all content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. SAEVA does not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components. Information on this site is provided for general civic and educational purposes and is not legal, tax, or financial advice.

Scope of responsibility

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SAEVA, its directors, officers, employees, and volunteers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of this site or participation in SAEVA programs, whether based in contract, tort, or any other legal theory.

Your obligations

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SAEVA and its directors, officers, employees, and volunteers from any claim, liability, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising out of your use of this site, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any rights of another party.

Compliance

10. Nonpartisan status and advocacy

SAEVA is a nonpartisan organization. SAEVA does not participate or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of, or in opposition to, any candidate for public office, and does not endorse or oppose candidates.

SAEVA engages in nonpartisan civic education and issue advocacy. Views expressed by individual members, volunteers, or guest contributors are their own and do not necessarily reflect the positions of SAEVA.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or the site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
